Man, so many bad decisions! Can't believe how many of our friends came out. When you can draw other busy musicians to your show…well, talk about bad decisions. Two superlative drummers, Keith Parkhurst and Ashbolt Stewart, so Rod's got someone to talk drum geek with. Make that three superlative drummers. And the moment of the night (for me anyway): it's my turn to sing, we're in the middle of Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride and I look out into the crowd and see a face I haven't seen in five years, at least it kind of looks like how I remember him. So I'm trying not to be obvious, but I think this cat can see the confusion on my face. So he grins and nods as if to say "yes, Vince, it IS me, Robert PeArt." Holy cow, my pal and old bandmate who moved to the east coast is back. We played in Jennifer Lynn together, we played in Karaoke From Hell together and we toured with Mark Stuart and the Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash. So I flub my lines and laugh out loud, I clam a bass note (not the only one) and wait till we can take a break between sets. We had a big hug and a good laugh. See? When you come to a Bar Pilots' show, your bad decisions truly become good times. And remember, your generous tips help with bail money come the morning.
