• The Bar Pilots caught raising Kane.

Saturday, April 6 was a special night for a lot of people in Portland. The Bar Pilots donated the evening's entertainment to the Citizen Jacki Kane Silent Auction and Benefit. The back story is that Jacki Kane is a dear friend of Pilots' bassist, Vince Adame. Years ago they worked together in an Atlanta ad agency. Jacki and husband, Brian, moved to Portland to start a family. Vince and Sharon followed the NW trail two years later. They've stayed in touch all these years.

Recently, Jacki now a writer, comedienne, blogger, and mom, developed triple negative breast cancer, (the worst). Friends immediately rallied. Another mom in her circle took charge. Trina Frank jumped into action and organized the most amazing fundraiser to help offset Jacki's lost wages and mounting bills. With the help of Vince's spouse, Sharon and many other key friends and contributors, the benefit attracted over 200 guests and made over $20,000 to present to Jacki and her family.

The Bar Pilots were there to close the auction festivities and refocus the event into an after-party celebration of life and friendship. This was the first time seeing the Bar Pilots for most of the attendees and they were well entertained. The night also marked our drummer, Jimmy James's maiden show with us. The Bar Pilots like to joke around that we're good for inspiring bad decisions by evening's end. But on this night, good decisions were made by many in the Portland community, and love and hope won out for Jacki Kane and family, her many friends and the Bar Pilots. We love to rock and it shows.
